Cupid Is Throwing Arrows Again

Valentine’s day is coming next month and it will surely be different from the usual celebration filled with romantic lunch or dinner dates, getaways-for-two, or special family activities. But even if we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on a less extravagant style, we can still enjoy the day with our families and kids at home.

A great idea to make Valentine’s Day extra special is to create love-themed crafts together with your kids. Here are five easy and affordable crafts to do with your kids this Valentine’s Day:

5 Valentine’s Day Crafts For Kids

1) Go swim with the Heart Fish!

With this craft, you and your kids will be creating a cute Heart Fish. The supplies that you will need are heart stickers, glue, construction paper, and scissors (new to cutting? try a scissor skills crash course here). First, you have to cut out a heart shape from the construction paper. Then, you will need to stick heart stickers on the top and bottom parts of the heart shape. These will be the lips and the tail of the Heart Fish. Then, you will have to cut out small dots or circles from a white and black construction paper. Make sure that the black dot is smaller than the white dot. These will be for the eyes of the Fish. Paste it on the heart shape, near the lips. Finally, you can decorate the Heart Fish according to your liking.

2) Don’t get bitten by the V-Day Dino!

You will be crafting a V-Day Dino with the following supplies: heart stickers, glue, construction paper, and scissors. First, you have to cut out a heart shape from the construction paper, then you have to cut it symmetrically in half. This is going to be the body of the Dino. Then, you have to cut out an elongated head-and-neck shape from the construction paper as well. After that, you need to cut out four small rectangular shapes from the construction paper and these will be the Dino legs. Then, you have to cut out small triangle shapes for the Dino’s spikes. Finally, you have to put them together by pasting the head-and-neck shape on the half heart, the legs on the bottom part of the heart, the eyes on the head part, and the spikes on the top part of the heart. Decorate using the heart stickers in any way you like.

3) Cuddle with your Heart Puppy!

For this one, you and your kids will be creating an adorable Heart Puppy. The supplies that you will need are pom poms, glue, construction paper, and scissors. First, you have to cut out one big heart and two small hearts from your construction paper. These will be the face and ears of the Heart Puppy. Then, you will paste on a black pom pom at the center of the Puppy’s face to serve as its cute nose. After that, paste on two white pom poms below the nose. Cut out a small oblong from the construction paper and paste it below the two white pom poms. It will be the tongue of the Puppy. Then you will have to cut out small dots or circles from a white and black construction paper. Make sure that the black dot is smaller than the white dot. These will be for the eyes of the Puppy.

4) Follow the Heart Bee and get some honey!

You will be creating a Heart Bee using the following materials: marker, glue, construction paper, and scissors. First, cut out two heart shapes from your yellow, black, and white construction paper. Then paste on the yellow and black hearts stack-like, making the yellow heart as its face. Then turn it over, and paste on a white heart on each side as the Bee’s wings. Turn it over then draw two black eyes and a smiling lips on the face of the Bee. Finally, cut out small rectangular shapes from the black construction paper then paste it on the head part to serve as its antenna.

5) “I only have fries for you”

With this craft, you will be creating a French fry-themed character. The materials that you will use are thin yellow pipe cleaners, marker, glue, construction paper, and scissors. On your red construction paper, cut out two French fries box shapes. Fold the sides of the box shapes and glue together but make sure there is a space or opening in the middle (just like a real French fries box!). Cut a rectangle shape on one side of the French fries box. Then, cut the pipe cleaners according to the size of French fries and put them inside the French fries box. Then you will have to cut out small dots or circles from a white and black construction paper. Make sure that the black dot is smaller than the white dot. These will be for the eyes of the French fries box. Finally, draw a smiling lips below the eyes and some hearts beside its lips. For a final touch, put on a cute label on top of the French fries, saying “I only have fries for you”.
